The Talent {w&w creative team}

Winnie and Walter are in charge of building a cast of gifted creatives to provide inspiring projects.  Like any good production, without talented creative artists to bring life to the product it remains just an inanimate object.  These ladies breathe soul into our stamps by the art they create with them.  We call our innovative, inspiring troupe of artists The Talent.

More about Kelly:

Favorite snack(s) while creating: no food allowed in the craft room ... 1) I don't trust myself, and 2) I'm too wrapped up in crafting to eat

Color combo I can’t get enough of: gray/charcoal + a color; although seeing the way chocolate brown has gone, I probably shouldn't use gray so much

On my desk/table right now is: absolutely everything, with two release weeks back-to-back. Wire, a mason jar lid, scraps, wood veneer snowflakes that haven't managed to make their way onto a project yet, a remote for my new cd/i pod/radio player, my son's sock.

I excel at: math, and figuring out the quickest way to do something (unload the dishwasher, wait in line at Disney, make my Christmas cards, plan a route for errands)

When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: listen to music ... Green Day, Metallica, Sting, Norah Jones, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews, I can also do Pop Rock

Don’t you dare take this away from me: Besides my family ... patterned paper, my Spyder coat and Ugg boots, my flea market purchases, my camera

My favorite crafting holiday/event: My friend Helen organizes card swaps (and a craft supply swap) with about 15 other ladies. It's so fun to be with people who understand how awesome the Silhouette is. I need to get them blogging though. Currently I'm the only one who does that.

My pictures are mostly of: My kids (candids, as they stopped posing for me many years ago), travels, and most recently my cards so I can post them on the blog

When I grow up I want to be: A well-traveled woman who knows how to knit and use the manual settings on her camera

Mayuri

Blog: Candles in the Garden

More about Mayuri:

Favorite snack(s) while creating: Hmm…don’t tell anyone, but in one of the drawers in my craft room, I’ve kept a selection of biscuits and sweeties for when I get the munchies! I usually have a glass of water handy too, but far enough away from my immediate work surfaces!

Color combo I can’t get enough of I always seem to go back to my Distress Ink swatch chart and can’t get enough of the warm reds, pinks, oranges and yellows…sometimes I like to throw in a bit of blue for contrast, but those are usually my go-to palettes!

On my desk/table right now is: A mess! No, I try to keep my supplies packed away after each session but always have my box of Distress Markers and a pencil tin that holds craft knives, erasers, scissors and other everyday crafting essentials. Randomly, there is also a memory stick on my desk, though I don’t know why!

I excel at: A little bit of this, and a little bit of that…I’d like to think I excelled at being creative but know that I have a loooooong way to go and so many gifted crafters to learn from…

When I craft I: Usually have Pinterest on my computer in the background, but also like listening to music.

My favorite crafting companion: My Grand Calibur, though the Silhouette Cameo come a close second ;-)

Don’t you dare take this away from me: My cutting matt and craft knives.

My favorite crafting holiday/event Birthdays.

My pictures are mostly of: My cards and occasionally, moments that have made me happy.

When I grow up I want to be: Able to look back and not regret anything. I also want to be a better photographer.

Gayatri Murali

Blog: Handmade by G3

More about Gayatri:

Favorite snack(s) while creating: I generally don’t snack while crafting because I have my craft room upstairs and our house rule is no food upstairs. Moreover If I snack I tend to focus on the food more than crafting lol!

Color combo I can’t get enough of: I love bright colours but I cannot get enough of black, white and gold. Classic colour combo.

On my desk/table right now is: OMG! It is a mess and needs a clean but I am working on a card using inlay die technique. So I have a few dies, white cardstocks and distress inks on my working desk.

I excel at: This is a hard question. I don’t want to blow my own horn but I think I excel at clean and simple style of cards.

When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: I prefer to listen to radio or music from my phone. Play it softer so music is in the background. Then I can listen to my creative thoughts. LOL!

My favorite crafting companion: My dog Charlie. He sits under my desk, nibbles on the off cuts falling off my table and every now and then I get my feet licked as well :-)

Don’t you dare take this away from me: My whole craft room. Hard to pick one item. I want them all :-)

My favorite crafting holiday/event: Last year I participated in the Gallery Idol by Papercraft Magazine. And I never thought I will get selected and get into the rounds. And I was on a cruise to Alaska in the middle of the rounds. It was so much fun to craft on a cruise ship, take a photo and use the ship’s satellite internet to post it. I was delighted that I can craft and post in the middle of the ocean.

My pictures are mostly of: My dog and my cards. Whether it is on my phone or on my laptop, I have heaps of pictures of my dog Charlie and of course all my cards :-)

When I grow up I want to be: I always wanted to be an interior designer. I love colours, play with designs and space. I had the opportunity to interior design my house and very happy when people appreciate it. Wish one day I can take it up as my job.

Heather Hoffman (our Talent in Residence from April - June 2015)

Blog: Houses Built of Cards

Favorite snack(s) while creating: I’m especially fond of ice tea when I’m creating, but I also love any chewy candy – gummy or caramel especially!

Color combo I can’t get enough of: Oh – that changes constantly! I’m really loving mint, coral, and gold – in any combination of all or some of them!

On my desk/table right now is: Um…normally I would say a mess, but I just cleaned up for company visiting for the week. So other than the staple craft supplies like my scissors, tape gun, paper cutter, etc… it actually looks pretty clean!

I excel at: Oh goodness – that is a hard one! I often joke that I am not necessarily an expert at anything, just okay at lots of different things! As far as hobbies, being a busy stay at home homeschooling mom has made me realize I don’t have time for a lot of different hobbies, so I mostly focus on scrapbooking and card making – so that is what I strive to excel at! I also enjoy photography, playing guitar, and reading when I have the time.

When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: I am often crafting while my daughters are doing their homeschool work behind me at their desks, so I frequently as listening to them – but I love to put Pandora on to listen to. I mostly scrap with Project Life, so that is usually on the floor in front of the TV watching a movie with my hubby.

My favorite crafting companion(s): I spent many hours crafting with two wonderful friends when we lived in Wyoming (Crystal and Holly) who I dearly miss since moving! One of them moved to the Houston area right after we moved back to Washington. The other is still in Wyoming (and actually here visiting this week, so hopefully we will be able to sneak in a little crafty time while she is here!)

Don’t you dare take this away from me: Tea! I love the smell of coffee, but can’t stand the taste – so tea is my way to get a caffeine fix every day! My favorite that I love every morning is Harney and Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea – LOVE it!

My favorite crafting holiday/event: I think I make more cards for birthdays than any other event – they are always just so fun, and there is ALWAYS a birthday party to go to it seems!

My pictures are mostly of: My family and our vacations – unless you count cards! Sometimes I think I enjoy photographing cards as much as making them! Hehee…

When I grow up I want to be: I don’t really want to grow up all the way – my Grandma is going to be 101 years old this summer, and she is still so fun and full of life and laughter – if I live that long, I want to be like her!

Blog: *Fill Your Paper With The Breathings of Your {Heart}*

Favourite snack(s) while creating: I couldn't possibly risk the chance of getting food on my work (or more likely ink on my food.. ) but I'll occasionally have an ice-cold bottle of Coca Cola (glass bottled, of course!) to one side

Colour combo I can't get enough of: anything with gold, but especially when it's paired with blush pink and mint!

On my desk/table right now is: I'm trying hard to keep my desk tidy between cards, so there's only my paper trimmer, my MISTI... and a stack of W&W stamps!

I excel at: being different/odd/weird/eccentric

When I craft I: watch tv/movies; listen to music; listen to the voices in my head; and/or prefer silence: the voices tell me where my embellishments go... ;)

My favourite crafting companion: usually my iPad Mini so I can occasionally play music but mostly so I can have Pinterest open at the same time as I work

Don't you dare take this away from me: my cats and kitten; my sanity (no, really)

My favourite crafting holiday/event: without a doubt I am completely in love with Christmas and creating for it!

My pictures are mostly of: my cats and kitten
